Any hints for cutting the heater valve and alternate air cables to a shorter length?

Measure the required "housing" length. Pull the center wire out of the housing (at least past the point of the cut). Use a die grinder with a cutoff wheel to cut the housing. Deburr the housing inside and out. Push the center wire back in. Cut the center wire to length with the die grinder or heavy diagonal cutters. Done.
