CSK 100 degrees, both sides AN 426AD 3-3

Following the instructions: CSK 100 degrees both sides AN426AD3-3 stub spar assembly: what am I doing wrong? The rivet is to short and how can the fabricated side of the solid rivet exactly fill the CSK hole?

Hi Peter,
The countersink may be too deep, in any case try a longer rivet. The shop head doesn't need to completely fill the recess and I would just ensure it is 1.5 x rivet diameter.

Check out the main wing spar roots. They have the same kinda deal going on albeit with bigger rivets.

Just use a longer rivet. It won’t ever completely fill the shop head side countersink. Just make it look similar to the main spars just with the 3/32 rivets.

The short rivet length is to assure that after setting the shop head doesn’t protrude above the face of the spar stub ( would always be grinding into the face of the socket in the fuselage)
These rivets aren’t holding the wing on… they are only assuring that the two layers don’t separate.
BTW, if you do try and fully fill the countersink with rivet material, you will cause undue stress on the parts and they will no longer be flat (also a problem with the it to the fuselage).
