Cowl Intake to FAB O-360 ??

Does anyone have some hints or good pic's of the Cowl Inlet to Filtered Air Box ? The instructions are to install the foam block that comes with the FAB kit and then cut I big hole through it and then cover it will glass.

I'm having a hard time visualizing how to do this and get a good fit.

I just did mine today. I didn't take very many photos but here's a link to someone else's http://www.n2prise.org/wfrv8052.htm

I trimmed the foam block down and fit it in one piece. The 1 1/2 thickness was more than enough for my flange. To secure the block, I first lined the inside of the inlet with duct tape, and then hot glued the block to the duct taped surface. A hacksaw blade makes quick work of the hole after the cowl is attached with the fab in place. Pull the cowl, lay up some glass, use a balloon to hold it in place, and wait for it to cure.

Hope that helps,
Paige

I have quite a few pictures at http://home.comcast.net/~n70ge. Click on the cowl link on the left, and then scroll down towards the bottom.

Mine is an RV-8, but the idea is the same.

After I carved the foam block to the correct shape I lined the inside with fiberglass tape. I then put a balloon inside the hole and inflated it with the air gun, this will expand the wet fiberglass and hold it tight against the inside of the foam until the epoxy cures . after curing you can add extra reinforcement layers to the other side . The rubber from the balloon makes a smooth surface for intake air and requires little sanding .
