Has anyone discovered something trick to put over the windows while sanding and filling the cabin top which does not leave a sticky residue? If you used tape, what kind?
 
I've seen...

the paint shop people at my place of employment use aluminum tape. I couldn't tell you about the residue since I have no first hand experience doing it. I've seen them trim the tape as they lay it down using a razor blade. I guess it takes some skill. Hope this info helps.

P.S. I work at a big helicopter completion center and we paint almost every helicopter that gets the avionics installed here.
