Can anyone point me to a spec that outlines the minimum edge distance for an AN509-8R8 screw?
I am installing the screw into 0.032" 2024-T3 alclad. The alclad will be dimpled. The structure is countersunk with a nut plate behind. The installation will be in sheer.
Normally I would think 2D, but I have read as little as 1.5D. I can't find a reference anywhere.
Thoughts:
- Clearly the countersunk fastener is better in this application that a standard bolt.
- The closest thing I could think of on Van's aircraft is the tank screws, but when I checked there was not 2D there either.
