Convertable nose/tailwheel RV7/7A

Has anyone modified their RV7A engine mount to allow conversion to RV7.

I have flown my RV6 for 1500 hours and am now looking into building an RV7.

I cannot decide between the nose or tailwheel model. If I build the RV7A then I would at least install the tailwheel weldment to make possible future conversion easier.

A friend did convert his RV7A to tailwheel, the onlytwist is the engine mount for the RV7 is 1 inch shorter and this opened up the cowl to spinner distance

The only thing that I have been told is that having a nose wheel aircraft with the tail wheel weldment installed in the tail you will loose approx. 20lbs of baggage. In the past Van's had a demonstrator aircraft RV-6A "ole blue" that was configured with the tail wheel provisions. I would recommend talking to Van's on this.
