Connecting up Oil Cooler

I have a O-320 with a oil filter on the top of the engine. It is in the way of the straight connection for the oil cooler line from the cooler. It looks as if I used a 45 deg AN fitting I can get the line connected. Has anyone had this problem? If so how did you resolve it and were there any problems with the line length to the oil cooler? Do I have to take off the oil filter?

I had the same problem and had to remove the filter to get a 45 deg. fitting on there. When you spin the filter back on there is like 1mm clearance between the fitting and the filter. Why everything needs to be so tight in that area I don't know, I'm sure there is a good reason. Anyway the oil lines from Vans fit just fine.
