Cherrymax grip length

Probably a stupid question. How do I measure thickness to determine the the grip length required for a flush Cherrymax - Do I measure from the top or the bottom of a dimpled/countersunk hole?
 
Total material thickness....Do you have the correct gauge? One side will be for protruding head rivets and the other will be for flush rivets. The measurement can be done with a mic, if you have good access to both sides where the rivet needs to go.

Perfect, thanks. No I don't have a gauge, but I do know the total material thickness. Cheers!
