CH Products (Now Tosten) in rear of RV-8?

Guy Prevost

Well Known Member
I've got CH Products grips in my 8A. Now that I've completed final assembly, my fears that the rear grip would contact the front seatback have been born out.

I've cut the rear stick way down to accomodate the grip, but the grip has a significant forward cant, limiting forward stick travel. Has anyone come up with a solution for this? I love the CH grip in front, but may have to abandon it in back. It's not really possible to cut the stick down enough to use it in its current state.

Cheers,
Guy

the grip has a significant forward cant, limiting forward stick travel.

You can cut a "V" notch in the stick, an inch or so down form the top, bend the stub back a bit, and weld.

This will make the grip stand up straighter, giving you more room.

Practice on scrap first.

Rear Stick Interference

Before altering check how far forward the front stick is when the rear stick contacts the seat back. Both my 8's contacted the seat but the front stick was well under the instrument panel when it made contact. Not likely you will ever have the stick that far forward.
