Can anyone tell me of their experience with removal of the early preservative coating on Vans canopies? I bought my kit in 1990 and did not get around to removing the white, painted on coating until now as the plane is finished. Removal is very laborious using fingenails so as not to scratch the Plexi. It comes off in little flakes about 1/16" x 1/16" because it sticks hard on the Plexi and is no longer flexible. Is there an easier way to remove? I'd hate to use solvents. Water won't do it, heat makes little difference. HELP!
