Calgary & West Coast USA

The past few weeks I have been in Canada & USA visiting friends and seeing all the touristy stuff, unfortunately this meant no work could be done on my RV-3B, 14,000km away at home.

However whilst I was in Canada & the USA, I did get the opportunity to meet some friendly people and learn a heap about building, and of course there was some RV Flying in there too.

Thanks to Troy Branch for the flight around Calgary, Paul & Louise Dye for the wealth of information and showing me around your home, and Ken Scott for the tour of the Vans Factory.

The RV-14 really is a nice aircraft, it is definitely on my list of planes to build in the future... (After the 3 is done, I might do a 12 to see the contrast between the two kits, and then maybe a 14 after that with some long range tanks added in.... we will see though)

Mussel Rock Paragliding (I didn't go up, but my friend did)...

Drove over to Dayton Valley Airpark and found this car, I was pretty certain I had found the right place...

The Oregon Aero seat is very comfortable, I think it will be the first choice for my 3 now...

Afterwards, Paul, Louise & myself went in to Carson City for lunch...

Then I had to drive back to Sacramento, down the 50 through South Lake Tahoe... A very scenic route and great drive...

Including the well known Hungarian-American by the name of Houdini, who was an aviation pioneer in Australia...

I did! I only needed one replacement part from Vans, but I saved quite a bit on shipping by getting it while I was there. I'm intending to go to Oshkosh next year, so I'll have to start putting together a list of avionics/instruments to bring back...
