Cabin heat vent location

I am trying to locate some of my firewall equipment, and I think I am seeing conflicting information on the correct location of the vent. The kit instructions I have say to locate it high on the firewall, under one of the engine mount corners, with the inlet facing down. The firewall-forward drawings are for the -7. It seems to me that the -7 location is better. What is the consensus of the list? Thanks in advance!

I used the -7 plans also for locating the cabin heat vent box, since I had the center floor cover included in my kit.
