build question dimpling

hi all,
i have yet to dimple anything but it is on the next build day's list.
i have read that dimpling enlarges the hole a bit and i am wondering if it would be better to dimple first and then final drill. seems like you would have a better chance of your finished hole coming out the size of your finish drill size? manual says to drill first.

The dimple die pilot is too tight if you dimple without drilling. It's the only time I've seen cracks form form in #40 holes. The slight looseness is something you're stuck with. It works.

The vast majority of holes in the RV-12 are already final size. This is one of tha major differences that the 12 kit has with the other kits from Vans.
