Brake Pedal

I just installed the brake pedals into the pedal assembly. It was a very tight fit, so much so that I had to grind down some of the weldment just to get them in. They move but not freely. I've got a feeling that they should move freely. I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong and what the fix is. Any help is greatly appreciated.
