Brake Discs

OK, stupid question time........

The black stuff on the brake discs is just there to prevent rusting till ready for use, right? That being the case, do you chip it off or does it come off on the first brake application? And is it possible to clean it off in situ or do I have to take the discs off again?

There is a brake in procedure for the discs which you do during your first taxi tests. Usually the description comes with the disc from the manufacturer.
