Best Method of Prep and Prime

I just got the DX 533 Aluminum Cleaner and few cans of Self Etching Primer. WHat i have read till now is that i need to mix the DX533 with water 1:3 ratio, spray the parts, wait 10 mins, rinse with water, then start priming. Is this correct??? don't i need to rough it up a bit with a scotchbrite? Any suggestions please?

When I etch the surface this is what I do.

1. Apply a light mist of water to part being etched.
2. Spray on etch solution. Spray bottles work good for smaller stuff. Garden sprayer or airless pump for big stuff.

3. Scrub etch with scotchbrite.
4. Rinse with water.
5. If the water "breaks" around dirty spots, etch and scrub again. Do this until clean, clean, clean.
