Balancing of Rudder

I know there is a procedure for elevator balancing. I don't recall from the plans of anything to balance the rudder. Can anyone comment if this is required? Thanks Gary

Install the balance weight as called for in the plans. Nothing further is required, as long as you don't make any mods that add mass to the rudder aft of the hinge line.

I have a bit of a wrinkle (literally) I loving built the rudder and it came out nice then it fell off the top shelf in my shop so I have a nice 2x3 inch dent in the skin bottom posterior tip. the skin is stretched so I think if I open it up again and flatten it out it will still not be nice. I think th answer is to replace the skin. Recently read some stuff about rudder flutter so i would prefer to get it back into perfect condition I think a fix is going to just bug me otherwise. Will keep you posted. I also must learn to put pictures into my comments, Cheers Gary

Balancing info is in the finish kit instructions, iirc. Call Vans, they might just send it to you.
