I thought way too much about this, but came up with a solution. I didn't like Vans baggage tie down plans.
My baggage floors are screwed down with 8-32 hardware.
Why not swap four nutplates for another size?
First the eye bolts. I found these. They are stainless, 10-32. Very light. The holes are a tad larger than a bungee hook but a ring or mini carabiner could easily be added. More than strong enough to hold down whatever is in the luggage area.
So I swapped four nutplates for 10-32 floating nutplates with a section of angle under the rib flange. Perfect.
