Backup Wiring with VPX

I'm installing a VPX and have decided, for a host of reasons, I don't want to use "Backup Method B" as illustrated in the VPX install manual. Instead, I would like to use a scheme like the below, which allows me to separate the backup circuits from the primary switching. Can anyone tell me if they see a problem with this scheme?

That should work fine, assuming the bridge rectifier is sized appropriately.

Why not just a single diode from the VPX, which will then tee in to the wire from the switch to the load? That way, if you are in backup mode, at least you're not burning 20-40 watts just to heat up the rectifier diode.
