Approach Speeds

Hi folks

What kind of speeds are you guys using in your approaches? Wind leg, base and final. Flaps settings? PIlot only and full?

Thank you

Moura

It depends on which airplane...

...but in my -10, I always use 100 MPH on the last end of downwind, 90 on base and heavy, I use 80 MPH on final and 72 if I'm solo,

In my RV-7

I usually fly about 90kts in the approach and down wind (10 in. MAP), 85kts -80kts on base with 10-20 deg. flaps, turn to final is about 80-75kts, put in the rest of the flaps and pull the power before coming over the numbers. I need to be about 65kts over the numbers or she doesn't want to land. I've tried numerous different configs on this and the one above seems to work best. A friend of mine with about 50 hrs on his RV-7 was bouncing his landings some while getting used to the feel. The 65kts or below on flare took care of most of that for him as well...
