Anyone else get an email from Van's

telling them that a new data plate is in their cart? Did we reach a conclusion on what could happen when the data plate and airworthiness certificate now don't match? I suppose the FAA wouldn't like a pen and ink change to the AW certificate? $5.00 plus postage for a new data plate, 20-25 bucks to have it engraved, and rivet tails bouncing around inside the tail cone looking for someplace to lodge? Really necessary?

When mine did not match (reversed first/last name) I sanded off all the markings and got out the hand held vibrating engraver and redid it attached to the tail section. Other than losing two Knots in top speed, all is great. This is after having my expensive jeweler engrave the plate the first time.
My N# plate on the panel...another story...
