Ambient CHT and EGT Temperatures

Before engine start of our RV-7A IO-360 the CHT and EGT temperatures displayed on the EIS showed 195 and 230 degrees respectively. Is that what others are showing as well? TIA

Mine are all showing ambient shop temp with the exception of the EGT on #1 which is 5˚ higher than the rest. IO-390 yet to be started.

Current shop temp is 74˚

Should be the actually ambient temperature or close to it.

Mine only shows that high after I have run the Reiff pre-heat system overnight!

Type K grounded thermocouples are supported for exhaust gas temperature (EGT) measurements.
Type K Thermocouple, 3/8-24 Threaded, CHT, Alcor 86253.
Type K Thermocouple, Clamp, EGT, Alcor 86255.

Ambient temperature for my RV8.
I tested the EGT probe by heating the exhaust tube with the barbeque lighter and observed the rise in temperature.

Depending on the brand of your EMS, you need to configure it correctly or else you will see different temperatures.

Could be mis match between actual type of TC and what EFIS is expecting
