For non-Texans passing through and needing an overnight stop in Amarillo, use Tradewind Airport (KTDW) and have then get their discount rate at the local Holiday Inn.
Then get the free "cowboy limo" to come to the hotel and take you to the Big Texan Steak Ranch - a Route 66 holdover.

The ride in the old Cadillac complete with a cowboy driver and steer horns on the hood is worth it.... and the steaks were great... definitely not a place for vegiterians though...
If you attempt a 72 oz steak dinner and complete it in 1 hour, its free.. but watch the gross weight for the next take-off...
