Am I thinking correct on this.

I am getting ready to place my latest electrical components order. I am utilizing the Knuckolls Z-11 diagram for my system. The question I have is that the diagram is showing running 16awg from the battery contactor to the main battery bus. The drawing says to use this for runs 6 inches or less. My run is more like 20 inches so I am thinking of using 10awg for this instead.

Does that sound about right for the change?
 
10awg sounds awfully big, but then again you might have a ton o' stuff on your battery bus and E-bus. I upped mine one size to 14awg which easily handles that duty for me.
 
Here is what I am putting on the busses.

Endurance Bus:

EFIS
Intercom
Xpndr
Nav/Comm
GPS
Engine Monitor
Safety Trim Module(Elevators)

Aux Fuel Pump
Flaps

Battery Bus:

Power source
cockpit lights
Ebus switch feed
 
As you know ....

...you're sizing that feed for when the E-bus switch is closed and your feeding all the E-bus loads from the batt bus. That wire - for most of us - is only about 3 to 4' long. That said, 10awg is normally good for 30A, while a 14awg is fused at 15A and a 12awg at 20A. You can add up the amps of your E-bus connected load and build accordingly.
