alternator failure

I suspect my alternator is no longer functioning after a flight today where my battery voltage kept getting less and less. I am leaning toward the B&C alt. and need to know if I can make a direct replacement. I have the Nippon 40 on the Lycoming O320 150 hp. Also does the B&C come with an internal regulator?

The B&C units are among the best. They are externally regulated so it will require mounting and wiring a seperate regulator.

Plane power offer a good internally regulated unit.

You may end up replacing the belt for either one (pull the prop).

I've found a lot of the time the failure is just the internal voltage regulator due to the heat environment it lives in. You can probably pick up a replacement at your nearest Auto Parts store. Most will test your alternator for you, if the regulator is the issue it is just a couple of minutes to change. Good Luck! :)
