One attachment lug has separated on the bracket that holds the alternator, so I'm in need of a new bracket.
Here's what it looks like installed and what mine looks like now. The overall length is 6 and 3/8 inches. Can anyone point me to where I can get of these?1000024556.png

Van's store has a bracket that has the same appearance but it does not list the dimensions:

Thank-you. It appears to be the same bracket. I'd like to order it and get it quickly, however the list of shipping methods does not provide the cost for any of the options. I'll give them a call in the morning and see if they can provide the cost for the different shipping methods.

You may have better luck but I've been waiting three weeks to get an estimate for shipping a canopy frame. Let us know.

So, the bracket is not in stock. I was advised that if it was in stock and I was going to order the part to ask in the notes section of the checkout page for the cost of different methods of shipping supposedly "they" would then contact you once they knew the cost of shipping.

I have one if you can't get Van's to get their shipping dept together. Sad to see how they've degraded over the years. Needs some good ol' fashion business sense to start running that place. As we can see, the "new" way to run a business is not the "best" way.
I would be curious as to why you broke that lug? Are you getting kick back? I see in your pics you have the cross brace installed. I would be looking at your mags to make sure you have the impulse coupled mag on and the right mag grounded out (ground strap on your key switch) when you are starting the engine. I know the smaller LS starters do have anti-kick back on them either so you have to be careful.

Thank you for your offer! Vans can't even provide an estimate as to when the bracket might be available. So, I would like to take you up on your offer. Please message me about how you like to proceed. I'm more than happy to pay you for the the bracket and for any associated costs for the shipping.
I haven't experienced any kickback. On my installation I did not have the supporting arm that connects to the starter (I grabbed that photo off another thread). The engine/airframe has 1340 hours. I've owned it for 4 years and have put 400 hours on her. It's a mystery.

Most likely that is an aluminum bracket that Van sold years ago. I had one but changed to the B&C alternator and bracket before the airplane ever flew. B&C sells the bracket kit that they supply with their alternator but it is around $92. Their bracket is steel instead of aluminum.

Thank you for that info. The lugs on the B&C bracket will not fit my alternator.

From my research on this forum I've found that the cross brace between the alternator and the starter is there to prevent the alternator from "bowing" which can lead to loosening of the alternator bracket bolts and potential failure of the bracket lugs. Duh! Apparently the B&C alternators do not require this cross brace as they are "precision balanced." I do not have a B&C alternator, so when I obtain a new bracket I will install a cross brace to prevent future failures.
