Alternate Static Air Valve

Well Known Member
I saw a mechanical valve/switch on one of the forums a couple of years ago that could be panel mounted and used as the alternate static air control. I cannot find anything in the archives. Does anybody have information on that switch/valve?

...and no sticker shock on the prices....:)

Do you need it?

Are you going to put a GPS in your plane? If you do, you may not need it.

If you ice over, you still know your altitude and ground speed (chances are your pitot will be iced over too) depending on the GPS.

Many moons ago when heated pitots and alternate static airs were introduced into aviation, GPS's were things pilots could only dream of!!!

Agreed Webb............. but keep out of icing conditions forst and foremost!

Amazing how accurate the GPS is as an emergency instrument!

A G296/396/495 or 6 :)
