Airflow performanced fuel pump filter location

Some time ago I noted on someones web site a change in location of the fuel filter of their airflow performance fuel pump. Basically ...as I remember,.... they removed it from the cockpit to the firewall. Has anyone else done this.
I would think that it would make the process of cleaning / changing the filter easier and less messy than in the cockpit area.

Airflow

Mine is up front. I think you can put it anywhere on the pressure side of the pump. Mine is after the gascolator and before the mechanical pump. Rather than a firewall mount, it is stapped to the motor mount frame tube extending up from the lower corner of the firewall. Works fine and easy to clean.
