Aircraft and aerodynamic surface dimensions

Hello,

I'm currently trying to build an aerodynamic model of the RV-9. I'm still missing some dimensions which I couldn't find:

Wing dihedral

Flap area
Flap span

Aileron area
Aileron span
HS span
HS area
HS airfoil

Elevator span
Elevator area

VS height (span)
VS area
VS leading edge sweep back

Rudder span
Rudder area
Rudder airfoil

Regarding the main wing airfoil: I read somewhere a reference to a Roncz RV6T airfoil. Are there airfoil data available?

Thanks

Thomas

Hi Thomas,
If nobody responds with data by tomorrow I do measurements for you. I have aircraft disassembled in the house and will have time to measure. What units would you prefer? Imperial or metric? No clue as for airfoil though. I can not measure dihedral or VS sweep because it's disassembled but there is data on builders websites try searching via RV search engine.

Thomas there are some measurement I made. Left some elementary school calculus for you :D I am forgetting it. Everything in inches and best approximations I could get from my build. Let me know if you need more or remeasure anything if in doubt.

Wing dihedral NA

Flap area 13 3/8 x 79 1/2 plus 10 x 3 1/2 lip
Flap span 83 5/8" trailing edge

Aileron area 48 x 13 1/4 minus 3/4 x 3 5/8 minus 1 1/4 x 3 3/4 for bracket cutouts both sides
Aileron span 48"
HS span 124" with both fairings attached
HS area 113 5/8 x 18 3/4 plus 2 times of 1/4 of Radius 6" (fairing) minus 9 x 18 3/4 center section cutout
HS airfoil N/A

Elevator span 59 1/4 "
Elevator area 54 x 15 1/4 plus 5 1/2 x 12 counterweight area plus right triangle with sides appr 15 1/4 and 5.

VS height (span) 42 1/2 not mounted on airframe, with top fairing attached could be 1" more if installed.
VS area N/A
VS leading edge sweep back N/A

Rudder span 60" with both fairings installed
Rudder area to be determined.
Rudder airfoil

CAFE Report

Hi Thomas,

I found a lot of detailed measurement information in the CAFE Foundation report about the RV-9A.
You can find it here
Hope this helps
