Need a descent air compressor to do the paint on my -8. Using Stewart System and need 13 CFM at the hose. My 33 gal craftsman isn't up to it I'm afraid. Any ideas?
You can get an 80 gallon Husky at Home Depot for about $399.00. I plan this route after talking to top body shop man here in Auburn. He races cars (oval track) but wanted to pain them at home. Said it worked fantastic.
Then when finished painting the plane will sell on Craig's list et al.
I don't need an 80 gallon compressor to fill up my Scion's tires.
I saw one at my local HD as well but the total CFM @ 90PSI was only 10. I spoke with Doug Stewart of Stewart Systems and he suggested buying or renting another 33 gal craftsman and T them in parallel which will provide about 16 CFM. He's done this himself and worked well. I'll use the new one for the hangar I guess.
FYI, for anyone painting: One thing to keep in mind is the spray gun needs, assuming HVLP. See what your gun requires in CFM. They can vary quite a bit.
Stewarts requirements must be met so the 10 cfm isn't an option. However there are good HVLP guns that will work with 10 CFM.
