Aileron counterweight

I've started working on my ailerons. I note in the plans the counterbalance in the leading edge of each, and I'm suspecting that those are the two long, very heavy galvanized steel or iron pipes that I got with my kit (I'm the second owner). They have no part number markings or labels, but seem to be unsuited for any aircraft use other than ballast. Does that sound about right? They're in my storage unit at the moment, but as I recall they are around 4-5 feet long.

And I managed to knock the left aileron skin off the bench, where it landed on one end of the trailing edge bend, of course. Tomorrow I'll try straightening that corner and see if it will be salvageable, or if I need to order a new one. I'm thinking it might make a dandy floor or side wall for the extended baggage shelf I plan to add to the fuselage.

Edit: Never mind. I used the thread search and found my answer.
