Aileron Alignment question

shiney

Well Known Member
I've aligned the ailerons using the Vans plan method and I'm happy with the outcome. However, my question relates to the bellcrank jig (W730) Maybe I'm a bit confussed as I thought the jig was part of the alignment procedure. Once the ailerons are aligned, should this jig fit the alignment? My ailerons are aligned as in the Vans method but the jig does not fit, if I fit the jig, the ailerons are no longer aligned! Am I missing something?

Martin,

The procedure should be to install the jig to hold the bellcrank in position. Then adjust the bellcrank-to-aileron pushrod to put the ailerons in the right position. Then adjust the bellcrank to stick pushrods to get the stick(s) in the right position...then you're done!

So....sound to me like you might have a little more adjusting to do.

Thanks Peter,

Stupidly for some reason I was doing it the other way round, I've just gone back into the gargage after reading your comments and hey-presto, worked first time, thanks Peter, much appreciated.
