aft bottom skin fwd

My aft bottom skin forward section has the hole for the RV-8A step..looking through the plans I see nothing about covering this hole, since I am building the -8 and am wondering if this is an 8A part??? I can easily cover the hole just seems odd with how thorough everything else has been to have this issue. Anyone else???
