Additional Bracket on Alternator Mount

I just installed my Planepower 60 amp alternator that was standard in the FWF kit. In the instructions there is a bracket that goes under the AN7 bolt that is the pivot point for the alternator. The instructions don't indicate where else this connects and it just seems to be designed for mounting to something else. Perhaps its because my starter is currently off?

You are correct, the starter usually has a spot for it to bolt to.

I haven't done the IO-540, but on my IO-360 in the RV-6A, that is exactly where it goes: to the starter.
