9A Nose Gear

lynnpstl

I'm New Here
Does anyone have any info on changing the nose gear on a 9A to an upgraded gear that uses the 500-5 wheel?

I think that is pretty much a custom design it yourself nose fork set up.

I think there are a few guys in the UK that have built a few forks for the bigger tire, but they have even had one of them flip when they landed.

If you search around on here you should be able to find some info.

Hi Lynn.....

....One guy used a -10 nose fork and had a machine shop make a new bushing that fit the existing nosegear leg, since it's a smaller diameter than the -10's.

Regards,

One thing to keep in mind if doing a mod like this...
The leg/fork/wheel/tire/ work as an assembly.
Changing one will effect others.
Adding a larger fork for a larger wheel makes a larger bending moment of the wheel load on the gear leg (because the axle center is further away from the pivot point of the fork). This could cause the leg to have an even higher tendency to bend.
