9A Fuse Reassembly Questions

Lionclaw

Well Known Member
I'm prepping my fuse parts for reassembly and I've got a couple questions:

1. Should I dimple the firewall flange and adjoining skins? If I don't do it now, I'll have to do them together later. If I do it now, would it be hard to match drill the hinges later?

2. The aluminum between the rivet holes and the main gear socket openings on the bottom skin is very narrow. Is it safe to dimple this, and should I be installing a rivet in each of these spots?

Thanks!

QB reference

From my QB,
Q#1: In a QB, the FW and side skins are dimpled and prosealed, held with a handful of hardware-store pull rivets. Having looked at the same thing youhave, I'm going to work in 10-rivet increments; drill 10, c/s the hinge, refit, drill next 10, ad nauseum.

Q#2: Dimpled and riveted in my QB, as rec'd.
