Hi,

UPDATE: Checked with Van's and they confirmed I understand the instructions.

Working on the FAB, Van's document:
Fab-320/360/540 Air Box 9/20/11

My configuration:
-8
Aerosport Power IO-360
Vertical Induction
Precision Airmotive Silverhawk EX-5VA1 FI Servo

With the Top Plate correctly vertically aligned, initial placement of the top plate in the FAB, the inlet is too small, not good.

See Photo 1. http://www.yhpb.com/share/rv8/fab-initial.JPG

The instructions, Page2:Bullet 4: Line 5
say if the opening doesn't match, cut the VA-131-A and glass the opening back in.

Here're the cuts I made, Photo 2 & 3

NOTE: Using a heat gun I was able to get some bend to the little bit of material I left on the cut.

Here's what looks like a correct opening, after the cut. More like it:photo 4.

This looks like a major required mod and a sharp angle to make this correct.

I've done a couple of engine swaps with a new FAB on a 4 and a 8 and I have never seen one that wasn't straight on the top plate. I might be looking at the photo incorrectly but it doesn't look right. Might be different for an 8A.
