74" VS 72" Propeller on an RV-7

I recently bought an engine that included a 74" Hartzell Blended Airfoil Propeller. I was wondering how many people have ever installed a 74" propeller on an RV-7 and if they had any ground clearance issues or problems. The parts catalog that Vans put out suggest buying a 72" propeller if you are building a RV-7 and a 74" inch if building a 7A. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

No scientific data, but I've got a 74" BA prop on my -7 and have not had a strike (yet). Is that extra 1/2" a material difference? I don't know. I make 3-point landings (no wheel landings) just to be safe.

Any new thoughts on whether a 74" C/S is fine on an O-360 or does the prop have to be 72". Can't see it being that much different.

I have a 74" on my 7A

And have not had any issues so far and hoping to keep it that way. I have measured it and have 9" of ground clearance. With a 7, you ought to have even more clearance.
Hope this helps
