I am installing a matching landing light on my other wing. It would seem to be a mistake in step 8 of page 40-03. After dimpling the wing skin and the lens, the instructions say to also dimple the lens backing strips AND the nutplates!
This would seem to be contrary to good practice, since the dimples in the skin and the lens are more than enough, the additional dimpling would actually seem to weaken the assembly and certainly accomplish nothing. Comments anyone?.
