Cleaned an airplane, inflated tires, thinned out my tool set and tiedown kit for weight savings. Weighed tool set, tiedowns, control locks, and towbar.
First oil change for the rocket - getting ready for the Oshkosh trip! This engine was pickled for 25 years (with 270 hours total time and 20 hours since an IRAN following a prop strike), so I have been wondering what I would find in the screen and filter with 35 hours on the nose of “Myst”….and the answer is - its super clean! (Whew!!!). We’ll see what the oil analysis shows when it comes back - but for now, she’s ready for the trip - fingers crossed for good weather…..
(Pay no attention to the “kiss” on the number 4 cylinder valve cover - clearance to the Skybolt was fixed - just didn’t touch up the paint…)
I suspect most of the WDYDWYRTW reports this week will involve an oil change.
Best part was properly stirring it for a half hour. The change itself was free of bad things, at 1400 and counting. Scrub the bugs and polish the gear legs tomorrow...
Finished the half system install, and tested it Planning to show up to the November Sebring competition with zero experience or coaching and just see how I do in primary. Having read and semi understanding the judging criteria of course.
