Okay, I just cleaned up the drool from my desk after watching the Axis announcement and I'm wondering how many G3X Touch screens will be hitting the market and more importantly what will be a fair asking price. Give me your thought? If you are have one of these, what would you sell it for? If you are buyer and have been waiting for them to hit the market, what would you pay? I'm sure some folks would respond with "I'd pay $1000 for a screen" or some crazy offer, but reality is most folks won't give away their screens. i'm just trying find out what the market may drive.

it is really supply & demand driven. If 50 of them hit the market next week, $1000 may not be that far off the mark. Unless there are a lot of us 37x users out there looking to upgrade, how much demand can there really be for these things? the units are still being serviced, so no one is going to buy a spare at anything over the flat rate repair price. With the price structure of the new stuff, being pretty much the same, you are going to need to be pretty deeply discounted for a new builder to be interested over the new stuff. that is how i ended up with non touch - 1/3 the cost for new old stock.

Being a non touch user, I am interested to see this play out as i would definately upgrade if the price was right. zero interst at $3000. Suspect others are in the same boat. If you haven't upgraded in the last 10 years, it is probably not really that important to you.

A new axis is $5000. A new G3X is $4600. I’m not even entertaining a G3X if it’s priced over $2000. And realistically, I would be looking for something in the $1500 range. I just don’t think there’s going to be that big of a market for the older stuff. The new era of Avionics is behind the panel and modular. It makes no sense to invest much money in a system that you know is ultimately being abandoned, both in form and in model.

Just look in the last few minutes on the classifieds. Over half a dozen people have listed their screens. Within minutes of Garmin announcing the axis. These things are gonna be everywhere for pennies before too long.

Hey guys - this is a classified ad. Doug’s rules say let the advertiser set his price - its not a place to discuss the general market, what you think the advertiser should be charging, etc….you’re more than welcome to start a new thread outside of the classifieds for that!

I agree but I think the OP asked for opinions, maybe this thread should be moved elsewhere.

I for one am still trying to parse the announcement. I obviously have not paid that much attention but so far I am not seeing enough for me to upgrade (and I am still finishing the 14A). I am starting to think though that only getting one screen was not a bad move and now I may buy another G3x screen for a lot cheaper on the secondary market. Looking to see where prices stabilize, or if I realize what I want axis for compared to G3x (I don’t want an all in one).

I agree this may be in the wrong spot, but Op clearly was asking for input on how to price this and what people would be willing to pay. Op is getting exactly what he asked for. I and suspect others only posted these comments because he asked for them.
