I plan on doing the tower mod to allow more access than just lightening holes. I have read and searched VAF. This topic is old and some threads are missing pics or have failed links.
My initial thought is to keep it simple. Just use screws and nut plates instead of rivets. I ordered the nut plates and screws from Vans but have discovered many people are using FLUSH screws. I bought and was planning pan head screws since the rivet call out is for universal. I like the look of pan heads better in this location but now I'm concerned about strength.
