Default FFI clinic in Italy

Together with Tobias Treichel I organized a FFI meeting in our local airport in northern Italy (Trento, LIDT).

We had the great opportunity to put together six RVs (3 RV-8, 1 RV-7, 2 RV-7A) with builders form Italy (me and Franz), Germany and Swiss (Tobias, Hermann, Dominik, Bernard).

We were under the guidance of Stephen Christoper and Steve Payne instructors and check pilot of FFI organization.

During the week the group flew around north-east of Italy to Asiago, Venice, Garda Lake and our mountains doing a lot of exercises lerning formation flight FFI standard techniques.

I flew with Stephen and Steve and I've really learned a lot (knowledge and learning is never enough). Thank you guys !!!

Echelon turn over our mountains, Stefanie (Tobias's girlfriend) photo from Tobias RV-7 in leader position.

Stefanie shots this photo with the Garda Lake view.

In route to relax just a bit. Photo by Stephen.

Four ship in echelon left, Tobias has the lead, me and Steve as #2, Franz and Stephen #3 and Dominik shows his nose gear LOL as #4

Lined up in LIDT (Trento) just before next mission.

Stephen with me, no rear rudder pedals and throttle - poor guy ! LOL (by Stefanie)

The briefing: all focused and no time for distractions. I loved that attitude.

Our briefing room in Nervesa della Battaglia (TV) visiting the Jonathan Collection https://www.jonathanaereistorici.it/

Special dinner with new friends !

My great instructors !

ps: Tobias opened this thread, probably you'll find more about our experience : http://www.vansairforce.com/communit...ghlight=europe

Default FFI Donaueschingen

The FFI formation clinic had begun a week earlier in Donaueschingen (Black Forrest south west of Germany).
I could only make it to that part of the clinic and it was a great experience flying with Christo and Shifty.

Amazing photos!

Tobias, sorry we didn't get together in Oshkosh like we planned from Madera. Looks like some beautiful flying out your way.

Christo, need to get together up here for some more training soon!

Default What a week ... noting can top this!

Hello!

What a week! A BIG thank you to Tobi, Luca and Franz, Cristo and Shifty! All well organized, very focused, straight forward. 2 to 4 flights a day, a total of 22 flights and a total of 17:35 hours flying, most of them in tight formation. To be frankly, it was quite exhausting ... but what a thrill to fly like that! Never worked so hard in the cockpit, never learned so much ... never dreamed about to fly so close and in tight formation.

Not to forget Steffi, she took care for drinking water, snacks and a real German "Weisswurst" breakfast at the airfield, that was great and unexpected. Also if a seat was empty, she jumped in and made great photos from our formation.

The Trip to Italy was a very nice thing, we learned the "Italian way of life", meet very nice and kind people like Luca and Francesco. Visited Venice and the private airfield TV15 with all the replicas and an original movable WW1 hangar.

I will for sure come again for such a great event!
