Default Iowegian Lunch

Kate called, she had a birthday present for the old man. Maybe it would be a good day to warm up the oil on the old RV......Maybe lunch could be involved.....

What the heck, twist my arm. Do it for the Kid! High ceilings and cold, but not "stupid cold" said we can do this......

Bernie and I were wheels up at 10:30. He escorted me to the border, then headed home. The blue skies and sun were very inviting. I was fascinated by the drift patterns on on the farm fields from the prevailing winds as we flew south.

I landed at Ames International and lunch we we did! Kate enjoyed a shrimp bowl and "surprisingly" good water, while I had the "Beijing Beef". We caught up on college stuff. Kate is a dynamo with class and activities, with little to no time for fun.....or so I am told......poor girl.

Back at the airport, we got the requisite selfie with Flyin' Cy, and I was off!

I made a quick pit stop at Boone to take a look at my buddy's (and his son's) LED lighting set up issues - we found a bad controller board. It was then a quick, tailwind-aided, dash home for dinner.

More drifts headed north....

Bravo over the top of Minne for some nice views......

It's always good to see my "baby" even if she is 21......

Good job old man. On all counts. Did I tell you how I love winters?

Once again, Bernie’s ankle bracelet prevented him from crossing the Minnesota/Iowa border?!

A perfect use for general aviation! We are certainly fortunate.

I am going to have to build up my nerve and cross into Iowa one of these days. It was great being your wing man to the border. Happy birthday young man. Kate will always be your little girl.

Ken - great to hear from you! I remember when you let me ride to Boone for RV day 15 years ago.....

You were smart to go south!
