I let family worry about sourcing the perfect Sharpie. The standing order for my mother is to ONLY get me a fresh new box (or two) of the correct sharpie pens at Christmas. She knows it is her duty and its importance. It makes her feel good to have something to put under the tree, and I do enjoy always having a fresh new sharpie.

I started using those retractable Sharpies almost a year ago. After a little over a year, every single retractable sharpie has now gone dead or were too unreliable. You make a mark and realize it wasn't made. Then you waste your time drawing lines twice or 3x just to make sure. What a waste. I never had these issues with the original sharpies.

Ironically, the original sharpies I got with my avery toolkit some 5 years ago, also all started to die at the exact same time.

I went out and bought all new original sharpies.
