Oil cooler

Well Known Member
On my Rv6 with a 0360 engine
They put the oil cooler just behind number
4 cylinder it looks like the air goes right
Over the cylinder and through the
Oil cooler the number 4 cylinder is
Running hotter cause of this. Is there something
I can make to divert some of the
air to cool off the cylinder?

Any ideas
Thanks

i do have a similar "problem". #2 and #4 on the left side running higher than the right cylinders.

if your oil temperature is in the lower range you could try to block around half of the oil cooler with gorilla tape or so to check if you can lower the temps on your number 4. as long your oil temps are close to 200F you're ok.

btw... putting the oil cooler behind number 4 it's the way it's supposed to be when we look at the plans.

Data

What are your CHTs during climb, cruise, descent & what is the OAT, Pressure Altitude for same.

Same question for Oil Temp.

And lastly, do you have temperature risers installed in front of #1 & #2?

Just Me

I would check the rest of the fit of the baffles. if ANY air is leaking out, then this may starve #4 for air. The air needs to go to the back to get adequate flow to cool #4 and also go thru the cooler. If it all ain't making it back there, then #4 will be starved for air pressure.
