in flight adjustable rudder pedals

I am having difficulty understanding the adjustment mechanism for the in flight adjustable rudder pedals for my 8A. The plans are of little help. The release mechanism F-8103 is shown on DWG 34 but is not clearly depicted.

I can't find a part that looks like that in my kit. Does anyone have, or know where to find, a pic of the installation?

Do you have to drill holes in the WD 817 tube to accomodate positions of adjustment? How does the thing work?

Yes, you drill holes every inch or so, depending on how many positions you want. A collar on each end retains the mechanism.

It is a simple mechanism with a spring actuated steel plunger pin. The spring forces the aluminum pivot with steel pin attached down into the holes drilled into the pedal tube. When you pull on the cable, you compress the spring and raise the pin so the pedal asssy with slide on the tube.
