Canopy skirt frame fit/bending.

We've been working up towards drilling the slider rails, and are just tweaking the frame fit. Everything fits pretty much as desired, except the mid section of the left and right parts of the frame that support the skirt - this appears to sit a little too far inside the fuselage profile. At the fore and aft tube ribs, you can get the get the trial bits of skin the manual talks of using, to sit nicely to the top edge of the fuselage. This makes us a bit conscious of the fact it's not a case of pulling the whole of the sides outwards.

Any ideas on how to tweak these sections outwards (or other advice) would be gratefully received...

Leverage is your only friend when it comes to that frame. I'm sure there are more brilliant ways, but here is how I defeated the beast.

Thanks Bill. We had thought about something 2x4 related, but wondered if it was too "caveman" - looks good, we'll give it a go.

Well, before we resorted to the 2x4, we tried a steel rail and some clamps and blocks.



A bit of progressive bending (frame on and off to check the progress many times...) and it's widened to fit nicely. By blocking at the front and rear (which we were pretty happy with) we managed to confine the changes to just the middle segment.

Good job massaging the parts to fit. Caveman=good, too afraid to touch it =bad.
