Vans 2014 Calendar Cover Photo Question

I just received the new Van's 2014 calendar and was intrigued by the cover photo of Steve Barnes RV-6. It doesn't really look like a 6, the cowling, fuselage, and gear legs appear longer than normal. It's a very nice looking aircraft, but is this plane really a 6?

Based on the rudder counter balance I'd say its a 7

Air intake under spinner looks very cool. Great looking RV-? (Super?)

The oil door doesn't match up with a 320/360 standard setup.

Well, it's not a standard RV-6 but is there such a thing? The O-540 makes it unusual but I'll bet it has lots of RV-6 parts.

Rudder counter balance does not make it a 7. All late model 6 kits have em.

I'm guessing Super 6 with a 540 and RV-8 sized tail among other mods.

"Rocket"ized RV 6

Super 6, stretched fuse and 540 under the hood. I do not remember if he shortened the wings also.....

Super 6

Steve Barns is known to me as a builder of a Super 6. (540 Lycoming) I do not remember his Super 6 having a blue strip so he may have built more than one Super Six.
