I was on an RV facebook group tonight, and saw the attached photo posted in response to a query on the various RV's. This member was showing the performance of his RV-9. I asked him about having his flaps down, to which he responded that they were up.
Based on my airplane, I believed that the pilot has his AD_Val set backwards. Paging through the AFS manual, I couldn't find definitive reference which indication is up and which is down (my airplane is set so the attached flaps indication means flaps full). Clearly, one of us has our indicator backwards from the intended way.
Can someone in the know clarify whether this is showing flaps up or down, based on your understanding?
